The Assam government announced a special relief scheme on June 18. In order to implement the scheme, a memorandum of understanding(MoU) was also signed with microfinance lenders. Now the Assam government has decided to distribute checks to the category 1 customers. This will be started from November 28 8 and the checks will be distributed to the customers who were regular entry payments without any dues as of March 31, 2021. Assam Government to Distribute Cheques
The state government of Assam will distribute cheques to the category 1 customers related to the microfinance of the state. The customers who were regular in repayments without any dues will be given the cheques.
Who will be Given the Cheques by the Assam Government?
The Assam government will distribute the cheques to those customers who were regular in loan repayments. The customers who did not have any dues will be considered for the cheque distribution.
Number of Borrowers
It is being estimated that over 10 lakh borrowers fall under this segment. The expenditure on incentivising them would be around Rs 2000 crore.

- The state government of Assam will distribute cheques to the category 1 customers of the microfinance.
- Checks will be distributed to the customers who were regular in loan repayments.
- The customers who will be considered under the category I will be the ones who never had a due as of March 31 March 2021.
- Each customer will receive an amount of Rs 25000 or outstanding.
- It is estimated that around 10 lakh customers will be benefited through this segment.
- The customers who were regular and loan repayments will be prioritised first through this segment.
- The government will also pay for the customers who were unable to repay their loans on time during the pandemic.
